Admissions
ADMISSIONS TO THE SCHOOL
Admission to the school will depend on your child's age and the criteria as stated by the Local Authority (Greenwich). We welcome visits to the school and are happy to show parents/carers around during specified dates.
Application forms are available from the Local Authority during certain times of the year. Please contact the school office in the afternoon to obtain further information. You should be thinking of applying when your child is three years old.
The admission criteria for Halstow School are as follows:-
If there are more applications than places available, the Education Authority will give priority in the following order to:-
- Children in the care of a local authority
- Siblings (brothers and sisters who live at the same address as, pupils on the roll of the school at the time when the child is due to start school)
- Children for whom it is the nearest community school
- Other applicants, ranked according to home/school distance (to ensure accuracy, the distance from home to school will be measured).
STARTING SCHOOL
Children join one of our two reception classes in September and parents/carers are notified whether or not they have a place at Halstow School early in May.
If the authority is unable to offer a place, you have the right to appeal. More information is available from the school office.
More information is available on the Greenwich Council website.
