Spanish Day

At Halstow we are learning to speak Spanish - from reception up to year six, each week we learn a few more phrases and how to say new things in Spanish. To celebrate our learning, we held a Spanish week and Spanish day where the whole school took part in a range of Spanish themed lessons, including studying art by Spanish artists such as Miro, making some classic Spanish dishes in the cookery room, learning how to flamenco and listening to Spanish stories!

After the event, our roving reporters reviewed the day in our weekly newsletter - see what they thought below!

Spanish Day by Emily and Rosie
At Halstow, we celebrated Spanish Day on 2nd May. Throughout the classes we took part in many activities such as flamenco dancing, making our own maracas, studying Spanish painting and of course taco making! Did you know in flamenco dancing the dancer makes a certain sound to change the beat? We learnt many new facts like this! Everyone dressed up fantastically and the assembly was like a sea of Spanish colours. The day was finished off with a raffle and Spanish stalls in the ground floor hall and even more flamenco dancing. Everyone at Halstow would like to thank all the staff at Halstow and also the parents, who without this would not have been possible! Thank you!
